I felt anxious today so I decided to go with the flow and see what happened if I chose some of my favourite tools, put on a good song, and played around. It turned out to be a very meditative process (and almost certainly more grounding for me than scrolling or watching TV whilst in an anxious state)! I used hand painted paper, prismacolor pencils and Winsor & Newton promarkers in my Leuchtturm 1917 A6 pocket notebook to create this abstract piece.
“Art is the activity by which a person, having experienced an emotion, intentionally transmits it to others.”
– Leo Tolstoy
If you’d like to share your creation from today with fellow readers of this blog you can do so in our group chat here - Julia has already kicked us off with a beautiful cross-stitch bookmark she is making for a friend!
I was also delighted to be tagged in Notes on Substack from others like
, and who feel inspired by this project - I love to see the energy of art transmitting itself through the very screens that can so often trap us!Thank you for your enthusiasm and see you tomorrow for day 16!
I thought you would enjoy seeing my friend’s Leanne’s collages. She’s on Substack, but her writing is mainly on her blog. If you go to the video under dabbling, I just fell in love with the way she collages the mermaid’s hair: https://www.crestingthehill.com.au/2024/05/looking-back-at-awesome-autumn.html
