Writing things down is how I keep on track. I like to revisit where I’m at and where I’m going regularly during the course of a project. It’s necessary in order for me to have any chance of completing said project. That is something I struggle with: completing things. Especially creative projects (oh, and admin). And I kind of need to work out how to if I want to make a living out of my creativity (which I very much do).
So LOGGED is where I will experiment with logging my practice as an artist and writer. Maybe I will note my progress, or inspiration, or road blocks, or new ideas, or influences. I don’t know; all I know is I need somewhere to write it all down in no particular order or fancy way.
So, here goes.
Today I worked out a publishing schedule for my other newsletter
- the one that actually makes me a paid writer. I’ve been hesitant to lockdown a schedule because I have been experimenting and have a fear of deadlines. But I feel really good about where I’ve landed. I need structure. Then I got lost on a tangent in my National Geographic magazines when I spontaneously decided to redesign the logo for
. I ended up with this, which I love - turns out it was worth meandering off piste.Oh I also captured a bit of the collage-making process for a video log I will publish on my YouTube channel next week. I’m enjoying using my camcorder - the footage has a nostalgic 90s vibe.

Tomorrow I’m going away for a long weekend in my campervan. I plan to sit in a big field with a cup of coffee in the sun and do a brain dump of all of the project ideas I have buzzing around my head. Then I’ll be able to pick which one to crack on with first. That’s the idea, anyway.
Until tomorrow.
P.s. Note to self - this blog will contain typos and poorly constructed sentences and illogical conclusions. It is not a log of finished pieces. It is a log of a messy process that is a means to an end, not an end in and of itself.
